Like all online marketers, I post my monthly income so you can see my Method™ is working. These report cards tell the story of how my niche websites are performing (in a way that doesn't get me in hot water with the taxman).

Not much time for chat this month. Let’s see how my websites did.

I split these report cards according to websites 1) I bought 2) I made 3) I made with a partner.

Bought: Tech Site (C)

Standard month. Didn’t do anything. Traffic and income remains solid.

Bought: Garden Site (D)

Disavowing all those old blog comments didn’t do anything. It’s repaid about 75% of what I paid for it, so eventually it’ll break even.

Bought: Home Site (A+)

The best month ever. I did, indeed, get a link to this site from Reader’s Digest, which turbocharged the rankings for a few days before they all slipped back.

Built: Review Site 1

Sold.

Built: Review Site 2 (C)

Getting more and more random sales. It used to rank #1 for a valuable keyword, which fell to #5 after the Google update. It recently went up to #4, which feels like some kind of block was lifted. But it’s still nowhere near where it used to be.

Built: Review Site 3 (D)

This site, which had been my only bright spot for quite some time, suddenly dropped for its main keyword. Very bad news. I was hoping to sell it, and that would seem to be off the table. I’ll have a better idea of its new level next month.

Built: Education Sites (B)

The main news is the near-completion of the online course. Now it has some cool Java mini games. It’s really good. Not exactly flying off the shelf though!

Although I got a lot done I was also pretty lazy with it. I wanted to do quite a few other things. Man who chases two rabbits catches none, and all that. And to be honest, the weather was perfect and I was happier in the garden, so I did that. I’m old now.

Built: Others (C)

This is my basket of deplorables - 7 sites too new, small, or shit to warrant their own section.

Pretty acceptable. Again the money came from two sites. The rest I should just shut down or something.

Joint Venture: Authority Site (D)

Doesn’t look as bleak as before, but it’s still doing half of what I need it to do. Doesn’t it know I live in the countryside? Things are expensive here. We need to buy 3 new mailboxes and that will cost in the region of 1,000 USD!

Last Month's Goals

  • The online course is 99% finished. The last bits are optional extras, really.

  • I did 70% of one of the two websites I’m supposed to be building. But actually I did one of those yesterday. i.e. in April. But whatevs. Client is happy so far.

  • Don’t think I did any more link profile checks. But the ones I did recently don’t seem to have made any difference.

This Month's Goals

  • Add some articles to my education sites.

  • Spend a bit more time on websites. Maybe first thing in the morning before I get tired from gardening.

Last Words

March was fine, financially. I’m doing one English lesson a week, plus we’ve got the flat and had a guy staying in it (he left today). So when I add up all my income streams, it’s survivable. It’s just not very comfortable, and as with Review Site 3 this month, you never know when you’ll get cut off.
