Like all online marketers, I post my monthly income so you can see my Method™ is working. These report cards tell the story of how my niche websites are performing (in a way that doesn't get me in hot water with the taxman).
Another boiling hot month, another website sold, another couple of steps forward in our endless home renovation.
I’m basically exhausted even though I haven’t actually done much. So let’s just do the income report.
I split these report cards according to websites 1) I bought 2) I made 3) I made with a partner.
Bought: Tech Site (A++)
Not to the guy who gave me a verbal handshake that he was really going to buy it. To think I’m stupid enough to believe all this ‘my word is my bond’ crap. Obviously I’m too honest for my own good.
Anyhoo, I did sell the site. Not for a huge profit, but over the period I owned it, it gave me a 300% return on my investment. I’m happy not to have to think about it any more, but it was the first site I owned that made consistent money online and I’ll always think fondly of it.
Bought: Garden Site (B)
Made almost no money, except for one day when it made 90 bucks. Okay! And it continues to creep closer to the break-even point.
Bought: Home Site (B)
Pretty average performance.
It makes money in British Pounds, which our new government is merrily burning to the ground. So while it’s doing okay in terms of GBP, when I calculate the profit in dollars or Swiss Francs it starts to look a bit shit.
Built: Review Site 1
Built: Review Site 2 (C)
The rankings are still bouncing around quite a lot, but generally in an upward direction. Which is nice. Income was up about 50% from last month, but is still half what it used to do.
Built: Review Site 3 (A-)
Much better! Again, below what it used to do but creeping back towards that kind of vicinity.
Built: Education Sites (B)
The first dip in a while, and sales of my course have dried up. Got to think long term with this stuff though. Plus the exam sites are fairly seasonal anyway.
Built: Others (Meh)
There’s only 3 sites left in here. There are 2 that I’m <this> close to just shutting down. And one that made 50 bucks last month and is showing some slight signs of life.
Joint Venture: Authority Site (C)
Still chugging along unimpressively.
Last Month's Goals
I successfully plodded along, not really making great strides in anything. Pretty pointless month really. Next summer I should move to Iceland for 3 months and write a book.
This Month's Goals
Still going to be hot so I’m not going to give myself any serious goals.
Finish dicking about in the garden.
Survive the noise and hassle of the renovations.
Stop drinking myself to death.
Yeah it was fine. With the website income, the money from teaching, the money from Airbnb, and the income from building websites for people, PLUS the sales of the websites, I actually made a shit ton of money in July.
But of course I lost a chunk of monthly income that I now have to replace, so it’s not a case of popping open the champagne. I’m not stressed, but there’s no magic money tree anywhere on the horizon, either.
