Like all online marketers, I post my monthly income so you can see my Method™ is working. These report cards tell the story of how my niche websites are performing (in a way that doesn't get me in hot water with the taxman).

I spent most of January building an online course for my education websites. That was mostly fun, but my income generating websites had a rough time.

I split these report cards according to websites 1) I bought 2) I made 3) I made with a partner.

Bought: Tech Site (C)

I had a few articles to upload, and did a tiny bit of polish on the site. I started to think about selling it. It has sentimental value and the earnings and traffic are really solid. But I am stretched too thin and need to consolidate.

Bought: Garden Site (D)

Another stinker. Google refuses to recognise the changes I made to it. Boo!

Bought: Home Site (B+)

At the end of December there were some green shoots of recovery, and fortunately it wasn’t a false dawn: We had the best month for quite a while.

Built: Review Site 1

Built: Review Site 2 (D)

No sign of recovery, so in the last couple of days I bought a new domain and rebranded the site. Don’t really know if I’ve done it right, but there’s not much to lose. Let’s see.

There were only 3 days that made money, but because the products are quite expensive it actually wasn’t all that bad a month.

Built: Review Site 3 (A+)

Another great month. I love this site, but in a couple of months I’ll be trying to sell it.

Built: Education Sites (A+)

I’m building an online course with 14 units. I gave out some free logins to get feedback, and there have been a few super helpful people. And the very day I made it possible to actually buy the course, somebody did! Quite randomly!

I’m selling it for 9 dollars a pop because the students are all over the world, mostly in poor countries. In Jan I sold about 70 dollars’ worth, but each sale made me really happy.

So the A+ rating isn’t related to the actual amount of money raised from these sites.

Built: Others (D)

This is my basket of deplorables - 7 sites too new, small, or shit to warrant their own section.

All back to normal, i.e. mostly nothing. I should shut a couple of them down, really.

Joint Venture: Authority Site (E)

Quite a bad month. Depressing. Little bit worrying. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the site. Just have to hope Google finally realises they’ve shat the bed in terms of the changes they made last October.

Last Month's Goals

  • I did a soft launch of my course and it’s been a success, especially in terms of feedback. I hoped to have it finished by now, but I’m not even halfway through. I am REALLY overdelivering in terms of content amount and quality.

  • The authority site got a makeover. Looks really good now.

  • I have been exercising more, but nowhere near enough, and I am still horribly fat.

This Month's Goals

  • Keep ploughing through the online course. Finish by the end of Feb?

  • See if I can sell a site or two.

  • Need to exercise at least 5 days a week. I should really do at least 30 mins a day. That wouldn’t be hard at all.

Last Words

Not a good month financially. The main worry is the authority site, because it’s way below the income level needed to let my partner work full-time on it. If she has to take other work to make up the shortfall, there’s even less chance of a recovery.

It’d help if I had the first clue what was wrong with it. Ah, well. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.
